Responsibilities of a tenant (2021)
Congratulations you have secured a property with Dunedin Property Management. As a new tenant that has signed a tenancy agreement you have agreed to meet certain responsibilities.
As a tenant you are responsible for:
paying the rent on time;
keeping the house or flat reasonably clean and tidy;
cutting the lawn and keeping the garden tidy
paying for utilities such as power, gas, internet, waste management services
making sure the house used primarily for living purposes;
informing Dunedin Property Management of any repairs needed;
ensuring that the smoke alarms in the property have working batteries;
being a good neighbour;
removing all of your personal items from the house when you leave;
leaving the house reasonably tidy, and removing all rubbish at the end of the tenancy;
returning the keys to Dunedin Property Management at the end of the tenancy;
leaving any chattels or furnishings provided by Dunedin Property Management.
During your tenancy, you must not:
use the premises for any illegal activity;
stop paying rent for any reason
intentionally damage the premises;
disturb the neighbours or other tenants;
tamper with smoke alarms so that they stop working;
have more people living in the premises than specified in the agreement;
change the locks, or make any alterations to the premises without written permission from Dunedin Property Management.
